Macaroni & Cheese

8 oz. elbow macaroni

1 cup whole milk

2 tablespoon butter

2 tablespoon flour

½ cup grated cheddar cheese

½ cup plain bread crumbs

1 large mixing bowl

Grated parmesan cheese to taste (optional)

 

Cook the pasta on boiling water (approximately 2 quarts). Heat the milk in a small saucepan over medium heat. Just simmer gently (small bubbles will appear juist arpimd the edge of the pan). Melt butter in a skillet and stir in flour with a whisk constantly stirring until the mixture bubbles. Don’t let it brown. Dribble the hot milk into the butter/flour mix whisking constantly until all the milk is added and the sauce is smooth and has thickened. Lower the heat and continue cooking another 3 minutes, whisking continuously. Add the cheddar and stir until it melts. Drain the noodles. In a mixing bowl, combine the noodles and sauce. You may serve now or continue cooking it in the oven for an even more delicious dish! Place the mac & cheese in an ovenproof casserole, top with bread crumbs and grated cheese, heat in an oven for 30 minutes at 350 degrees Farenheit.
